There are no hard and fast rules as to which wood is best for decking. Softwoods such as pressure treated Southern Yellow Pine or cedar are extremely durable , however, The Designer Decking Company tend to steer well clear of some of the cheaper softwoods which really can't stand up to the test of time.

Softwoods have a completely different aesthetic character to the hardwoods and it really comes down to personal choice and of course cost.
