| The
various woods we feature are either pressure treated or contain enough natural
oils to preserve them for many years ensuring low maintenance. As an added
measure we treat every new installation with Seasonite. This is a one off
treatment which prevents water penetration and splitting and undoubtedly
helps to preserve the natural colour for longer.
Ipe, ballau, and massaranduba can either be left to weather down to an attractive silver or the original colour can be maintained by periodic applications of a suitable decking oil. We recommend Australian Timber Oil for hardwoods. Southern Yellow Pine will weather to a warm shade of brown. All decks should be kept clean. Pressure washing will keep your deck free from grime and algae. If the deck has been neglected it maybe necessary to apply a formulated decking cleaning solution such as Net-trol before hosing off. Never use detergents. We do not recommend varnishing outdoor decks as this has a tendency to yellow and eventually flake especially in strong sunlight. No patio finish is totally maintenance free. Even a stone patio requires annual maintenance to clean off winter grime. Decking requires similar attention and the reward is that you will have many years enjoying the undisputed beauty of natural wood.
